Feelin' Hot, Hot, Hot

Have I ever mentioned how long it takes to get hot water in my place?

So long, that when I wake up in the morning, I go into the bathroom, turn on the water in the tub and then stand at the sink and brush my teeth. While the water is running in the tub.

Thus, pissing off environmentalists everywhere.

By the time I'm done brushing my teeth, the water is finally hot and I can start my shower.

So far this is the only major annoyance with this place. Aside from the whole laundry thing.

The Storm Has Passed

Apparently something was just out of alignment last week, because this week is proving to be much more.....tolerable. While I'm still running at break-neck speed at work, my mood is relatively chipper and much less angry. I bet my lovely weekend helped a little.

I really don't have anything major to report. No cute, little anecdotes to share. I'm not blue, so I don't need to get mushy and sappy about life and being alone and waah. Let's see....what can I tell you?

My smaller jeans that I bought are now too big and I must buy even smaller jeans. That's always nice.

I put curtains up in the living room. That softens the place a bit. I still need to get stuff up on the walls.

It occurs me, as I scarf down lunch, that I haven't eaten dinner in two days. I get sidetracked and then end up going to bed. That's probably the reason for the smaller jeans. So, in response, I've emailed a friend about having dinner tonight.

Cyn's been gone for eight days and I miss her terribly. She'll be back tomorrow so I'm thinking we'll party it up this weekend.

I'm going to the Pogues concert in a couple of weeks with my irish Sheans. There may have to be whiskey and Guiness beforehand.

I still have not bought a plane ticket for christmas because my boss still has not approved my time off request. That's on my list of things to tackle today.

I think you're all caught up now.

Finally! The Apartment!

I finally got some batteries for camera so I can post pictures! My camera died on my Saturday after I took all the pictures, so I couldn't get them off the camera.

Anywho!

Here we go!

So now, turn around and go back down the hallway. At the end of the hallway, turn right. Now you see the bathroom, with it's beautiful greenish/bluish tile (and nice bright shower curtain, compliments of mom):

Now leave the bathroom, go across the hall and you're in the bedroom. With the BRAND NEW BED that was delivered this morning:

They are now put away nicely in the closet. I still don't know what to do with the two bins of boots.

General Life Update

So, let's see.
Life is okay. Getting better. Still......weird.

I hear that some of you are a bit concerned about me. Well lemme tell you - nothing says emotional support like gift cards! Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, Pier One.......all good. I've got an apartment to furnish soon!

Speaking of apartments, I filled out the application and put down the admin/holding fee on the apartment with the pool, right across from the Locks. The women in the office said I should hear back today, but I didn't. I'm sure it's fine. But it would be nice to know one way or the other. I'll have to call tomorrow.

And then Thursday morning, I leave for Chicago.
Julie, my friend in New York, decided after such a monumental life change, we finally needed to have a girls' weekend. She'll be in Chicago for business, so she extended her trip until Sunday. We'll be staying at the InterContinental, which I know nothing about except it's very expensive. I love it.

And then next week, back to reality. Probably cleaning for Lisa. Maybe stay at the apartment a few nights and try to pack. Hopefully I'll have a place by next week and will know a move in date. Then comes bribing the friends to help move. Always fun. I hate this crap.

Oh, and my office finally got moved. Except most of my stuff is still in boxes because the bookshelves from Ikea haven't arrived yet. Once they do, it should be easier to get settled. I'm having a hard time really getting anything done. I'm so scattered and overloaded. Something's gotta give.

But again. It will get better. I know that. At least I've got friends who are taking me out and treating me to food and drink. Pity? Probably. I don't care. I'll take it.
