I’m a Big Kid Now!

(Really? A picture at 7am on a Monday morning? Really?)

I got my hair cut. Todd says I look a little more mature.

Which is probably good because his high school buddy that we had dinner with on Friday asked Todd, “How old is she?!”

He was quite surprised when I told him I’d be 35 in April.

I’m going to be 35 in April.

Oy.

Suddenly, I'm Vain

I had my trial run with Alyssa, the gal who’s doing my make up and hair for the wedding. She’s a friend of Todd’s and very young and very enthusiastic. We did the trial in her mom’s kitchen, with her brother and sister (twins) cracking jokes and giving tips. Her mom came in midway and stated it had been a helluva day and she was opening a bottle of wine and who wanted some.

It was a fun night.

However.

Oh my gawd, the gray! I went in the bathroom to take a look at the finished product and was in awe at the streaks. I’ve never minded they gray before. Really. But seeing it in my perfectly coifed hair was startling. It was like the Bride of Frankenstein. Dark, poofy hair with white running through it. I’m only 34!

I may have to color my hair before the wedding.
I can’t believe it.

Gasp!

I think I might be vain.

You probably think this song is about you...

A Tour Down Hair Lane

Let us take a brief stroll down hair lane. I can't remember all of the years, but I think we're starting in 2003.

Pixie.

Chunky pixie. I love this style. I wish it would do it all of the time.

Growing out the pixie (and apparently, not too happy about it).

Growing out. And highlighted.

Hippy medium. No bangs.

Medium. Pretty bangs.

Longer medium. With heavy bangs.

Long.

Uber Long. Hippy, out of control, I-can't-afford-a-haircut long.

And now.....

CRAZY. Because I can.

It's good, right? I mean, the red just makes my eyes POP. And I figure, it will grow out before the wedding. And if not, I'll just dye it. No biggie.

Oh, I joke.
I'm not THAT crazy. Although I love the length. Very....light. Maybe after the wedding.

So here.
My hair, sans 6 inches.

And I don't have to put it back in a ponytail when I eat now!!

Hair Update

Thank gawd I have an appointment Wednesday.
This crap is coming off.

Random Thoughts

Today is Jamie’s birthday, so we’re going shopping for a vacuum cleaner and dinner. My favorite kind of birthday celebration.

*********

My right leg is aching so bad, I may just use my scissors to cut it off. I think that would help a lot.

Damn PMS. I love my uterus!

**********

It snowed here on Wednesday.
And I’m freezing. I just want sun. Just a little.....

**********

I’m eating a yogurt parfait. And I hate yogurt. But this thing has strawberries and granola, which I love. So once I run out of solid good stuff, and only have ooey gooey yogurt remaining, I’m done.

**********

I had a hair appointment on Tuesday, but a big project came up at work, so I had to reschedule it for next week. I was R E A L L Y looking forward to this appointment. My hair is past the middle of back now and it’s extremely annoying. I want this crap off.

**********

As TBFE said, we were interviewed by the Seattle PI last night. We’ll let you know when that’s up and available for you to read. Providing I look thin in the pictures (and Josh took a lot of pictures). Otherwise, I’m not linking to it.

**********

I think I’m so tired today because I’m already exhausted from the upcoming weekend. That’s kinda sad. But I am looking forward to Emerald City Comicon. I just wish we didn’t have to be there at 9am.

Shoot me.

Red Hair

Dee asks for a photo, so she gets a photo.

It's not bright red. Deep, burgundy red. I'd like to get it done professionally and just have it flamin' red. Ah, one day.....

For the record, I don't like my nose.

Weekend Update

TBBE does a great job of laying out the actions of the weekend, which makes it so much easier (and quicker) for me to simply throw in my little random thoughts and tidbits. Because, as I may or may not have mentioned, my new job is surrounded by people who actually adhere to the 30 minute lunch rule (so we're only at work 8.5 hours a day, as opposed to 9) which doesn't leave me a whole lotta time to blog because my blogging includes 20 minutes of self editing.

And I just used up 10 minutes on that paragraph (while eating my salad). Ack.

So!

Did you know that blackberry bushes leave little infected welts on your skin when they poke you? Yeah, I didn't either, or I would have worn gloves when we were cleaning up the bushes next to the carport. Man, my hands hurt today. I've got four major owies. I've been pouring hydrogen peroxide on them, but that's not helping the pain. See why I avoid manual labor? I get hurt. I never get hurt when I'm sitting on the couch watching football. Never.

Unless I pull something while screaming at the TV.

Speaking of which, holy crap, we finally won a game! We beat the 49ers. Which, come on, they were 2 and 5. But hey, we won. Yippee.

Update: 17 minutes left in my lunch. Pardon any typos from here on out.

I got my beautician on last night. I colored Kayleigh's hair bright strawberry so now those blue eyes and freckles stand out even more. I was going to wait to do my hair (dark red) until Thursday, since it's a temporary color and I wanted it bright for Halloween, but I was jealous that K got transformed so I ended up doing my hair, too. I feel like a hottie.

And then I ordered fishnets with built in garters from Amazon this morning, so now I'm just feelin' naughty. My semi-respectable costume (albeit, still slightly trashy) is slowly morphing into Great Big Whore. And I don't care. It will make for good pictures when I'm 75 and looking back at photos and pining for my youth.

And in other news, my calendar is clear this week, as I must start packing. Must. Well, maybe there's a walk in there. And maybe dinner with Jamie. But that's it! I mean it.

Best Quote of the Weekend:

Kayleigh (grabbing a pair of 3 inch black, shiny stilettos at DSW, with a big smile on her face):

"These will definitely make you look like a slut. Try them on!"

Haircut!

Nothing drastic. Still long. Not "mermaid" long, but it will be again by Halloween. Just "healthy" long.

And in all 12 pictures I took, my boobs look ENORMOUS. I tried to tone them down for you, but it just ain't happening. Flaunt 'em if ya got 'em, right?

Hair Update

I have discovered the timer feature on my camera. Lucky for you.

Because my arms are not long enough to do the self portrait and get all of the hair. Yes, it's that long. Actually, it could use a trim. It's been since October.

I'm not as stoned as I look. I just don't know what I'm supposed to do when I'm waiting for a camera to take my photo, ya know?

If I can refrain from whacking it all off (it's becoming a major pain in the ass) I will be a mermaid for Halloween. An "authentic" mermaid. Well, maybe with pasties. Because pasties are very fashionable these days. No sir, not just for strippers anymore!

More Hair Talk

Twice this week, someone has come up to me and said, "Your hair is getting so long! Are you intentionally growing it out?!"

Why is my hair growing such a big shock to everyone? Hair does that. It grows. It's an amazing thing, isn't it? But people are just so surprised by it. I don't remember ever saying, "Oh, let's see how long I can get my hair. Can I get it down to my knees?" That's not the real reason for it's length.

The real reason is that the woman who cuts my hair charges $65 a pop. And that's a lot of money to just cut an inch or two off to clean it up. So, I go in about once or twice a year and have her shape it. And she's so good, the shape lasts for months. That's all it really needs at this point.

And the real, real reason? The boys like the long hair.
And I'm likin' the boys likin' me right now.

I Aspire To Be On A Bandwagon And I Didn't Even Know It

I've been saying I want to dye my hair red. Flat out red. No highlights. No foiling. But just all over red. And my bangs are growing out, so they're starting to swoop over to the side. Not as much as the pictures below, because I don't have enough product to get them to stay like that.

In my web surfing today, I've noticed a pattern.

I watched Superbad last night, and this is Emma Stone, who played Jules:

A Fine Frenzy's "Almost Lover" has been playing non-stop on my iPod for two months now. This is the lead singer, Alison Sudol:

Along with "Almost Lover", Rilo Kiley's "Portion for Foxes" is on constant play as well. I know, how can I play both songs constantly? Well, one is fast, one is slow. Depends on my mood. Anyway, this is Jenny Lewis, lead singer of Rilo Kiley:

There is a definite trend. And, to me, they all look like my cousin, Kristin. Why couldn't I have gotten the red hair gene?

This is how interesting my day is.

Tip for the Ladies

I read somewhere a while back that when in a pinch, you could use conditioner as a shaving cream (and you laugh at me for ripping out pages of magazines and filing them away.....) Well, I just happened to be in a pinch recently, so I tried it.

Fantastic. Better than any foo foo shaving gel out there, that's for sure. No, it doesn't smell like aloe or rasberries, but you get a damn good shave out of it. I may never spend money on shaving gel again. Consider yourself "tipped".

And speaking of conditioner, what kind of conditioner do salons use that makes that smell stick around for three days? I got my hair cut Tuesday evening and I showered rinsed it out when I got home. Didn't shampoo it, just rinsed it. But I washed my hair Wednesday morning, and then again this morning, and I can still smell that salon conditioner. Is it some kind of subliminal thing? They think if I keep smelling that conditioner, I'll want to go back and get something else done, thus spending even more money there? It's very interesting.....
