Healthy Just Ain't Worth It

CB and I branched out today (no pun intended – you’ll get it in a minute) and went to Whole Foods for lunch. After scouring all of the grab-n-go food, we each got a container of prepared ricey pasta crap, and then headed over to the bakery. Because if we’re eating healthy Whole Foods crap, we’re having dessert.

We got back to the office and sat down at our respective cubes to eat our lunches. Within a few bites, I thought “This takes like woods.”

It’s long grain parboiled brown rice, black barley, daikon radish seeds, red grape tomatoes, fennel, baby arugula, basil, zucchini, yellow squash, lemon zest and sea salt. Healthy, right?

Yes, but ah gawd, it tastes like crap.

A few minutes later, CB hollered over and said, “I think I’m eating dirt with leaves in it.” I asked what she got. She came over and showed me….and it was the same thing I had. Kermit and Mr. Cranky Non-Decorating Coworker laughed their tushies off at us.

Thank goodness we have that cookie and chocolate macaroon for dessert. It makes the dirt worth it.

Kind of.

Not really.

**********

Update: My stomach is killing me. Kind of feels like I’m still hungry, kind of feels like rocks working their way through my innards. Gah.

I think the macaroon will make it all better.
Or bring it all back up.

Whatever makes the pain go away.

With all due respect, Julia Child and the entire cast of Iron Chef would be hard pressed to make that list of ingredients palatable. It begs the question: What in the H-ll were you thinkin'?
